Born at the intersection of the artist's diverse experiences – her time in the finance industry, her curious exploration of human nature, and her fascination with metaphysical states – the triptych delves into the complex interplay of opposing forces that shape our existence.
This evocative series, crafted in Hong Kong amidst the COVID-19 lockdowns of 2022, adeptly captures the shifting dynamics of a world in transition. Presented here is the third painting in the series, which features a powerful juxtaposition of two female figures: one ascending towards the sky, radiating energy, determination, and rigor, while the other gravitates towards the earth, seemingly in a state ofsuspended animation. These contrasting figures embody the artist's exploration of the tension between action and inaction, fortitude and vulnerability, and the perpetual struggle to transcend life's challenges.
In her artist's notes, the creator ponders the metaphysical and psychological dimensions of art, suggesting that it provides a temporary refuge from the confines of our physical existence. This concept is vividly illustrated in the triptych through the artist's intentional contrast of techniques. The background, portrayed in a flat, understated bluish monotone, conjures a sense of serenity, while the expressive, abstract brushstrokes that animate the female figures introduce a sense of dynamism.
