Syllabus

ENCOUNTER

• Reading Space (Qu Chang)
  A monthly reading group with a focus on exhibition making and space making, this series studies a selection of exhibition projects in Asia. Taking place each time at a different venue with a different spatial experience, the reading group will imagine collectively different forms of exhibitions.

• Curating New Media (Jianru Wu)
  With the aid of online teaching tools, this series seeks to provide a foundation of understanding of new media, through case studies in its history and its rapid development in the new digital era, with a high relevance to the new challenges that curators are facing nowadays under current global circumstances.
  *As Wu is currently based in Guangzhou, this series will be carried out through online meeting.

• Coaching for Creatives (Alexandra Choa Tan)
  In these sessions, participants will learn more about themselves - their values, strengths, focusses and areas of improvement - under the coaching of our instructor. This kind of understanding is crucial to the establishment of a curator’s portfolio, and equally important is how to deliver effective and successful presentations. We will also rethink terminology online and models in the perspective of an art editor and look into art writing.

• Practising Curatorship (Hilda Chan)
  This series studies curatorship using a more practical approach - through behind-the-scenes experience such as visits to artists’ studios, institutions, artist-run space, galleries etc. Our instructor will also provide hands-on advice, or tips, on writing proposals, funding applications and exhibition execution.

課程內容

專題探討

• 空間閱讀（瞿暢）

  這每月一聚的閱讀小組將聚焦展覽及空間製作，並集中閱讀一系列呈現於亞洲的展覽資料。小組的每次聚會將發生於不同的地點，以此激發多元的空間想象。

• 新媒體策劃（吳建儒）

  通過線上教學方式，此課題從展覽歷史的角度為如何理解「新媒體」提供基本認識，透過展覽史上的個案分析，同時結合當下新數碼時代的急速發展現狀去思考策展人所面臨的技術革新帶來的新挑戰。

  *由於吳氏目前在廣州，本系列將通過在線會議進行。

• 創意培訓（Alexandra Choa Tan）

  在導師指導下，此系列課題旨在讓學員認識自我 —— 包括自身價值觀、優點、強項，並改善空間。這種理解於策展人建立個人履歷檔案至為關鍵，同時有效且成功的演示方法也同樣重要。此外，我們將從藝術編輯的角度重新考慮線上術語和模式，並探討藝術評述。

• 策展實務（陳芍君）

  從實踐角度出發，我們將透過幕後體驗來反思策展，例如參觀藝術家的工作室、不同機構、藝術家經營空間、畫廊等等。導師也會分享一系列有關計劃書寫作、資金申請和展覽執行的實戰建議和錦囊。
